Valorant is one of the most popular hero shooter games out there and it has received several content updates since its inception. Even though players are enjoying a steady stream of updates, they may have to wait a bit longer for the next one.
Developer Riot Games have announced that they may not push Update 2.10 for now. The reason is that they are making changes to the game¨s engine that may pave the way for a better gaming experience.
Riot Games software engineer ＾Riot Nu￣ did not leave players in the dark. In a lengthy thread, the developer explained why these changes may require a lot more time than expected.
For those of you who are unaware, Valorant uses a custom version of Epic Games¨ Unreal Engine 4. UE4 developers constantly add improvements to stability and general bug fixes.
According to Nu, they take the Unreal Engine 4¨s latest source code and merge it with Valorant¨s custom source code. Here is a brief rundown of the steps:
They take UE4¨s original source code.
They make small changes and validate them first before implementing more features.
Any issues that may arise are isolated and fixed.
The new changes are slowly integrated into the game¨s engine.

The devs make use of special tools that can help with the merging process. At this point, no changes can be made until the process is complete.
Once things have been ironed out, the process of game building can commence.
After that, the developers will work through the runtime issues. Problems are expected at this stage and they are working to fix anything that may arise.
The game will then be run through a series of automated tests to ensure the engine’s stability. Any issues with the core gameplay will be addressed.
A manual playthrough will be conducted after the automated tests to catch any additional issues that may occur.
After playtesting, the QA team will run the game through a final series?of tests before the update’s release. This may take weeks to ensure that everything is working as intended.
Since the game¨s engine will have to be updated, @PlayVALORANT announced that any changes that were originally intended for Patch 2.10 will be shipped along with the next major update, Patch 2.11 set to arrive on June 8.
What are your thoughts about the developer¨s recent update cycle?
